A kiosk can provide shelter, as well as display information — maps, notices, meeting announcements.  This shelter is in South Carolina (note the palm trees!).

A Reference to the Past

This kiosk is located along a bike path that once served as a railroad line.  The design of the kiosk references the historic use of the site.

Preserve Views

This kiosk gives a “gateway” sense of arrival, but preserves the views of the parkland beyond.

A kiosk for the park.

In 2017, the Tarrytown Lakes Committee, the Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council, the Historic Society of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow  and the Chamber of Commerce began the process of selecting a designer for a trailhead kiosk, in order to provide visitors to the park with:

  • trail maps;
  • information about the history, ecology, and recreation opportunity in the park;
  • information about connections to the village of Tarrytown and extensive network of bike paths;
  • shelter;
  • tools for bike repair;
  • a dynamic information component where current notices can be posted.

Tarrytown Lakes Committee is most excited to be working with TEAC, the Historical Society and the Chamber on this project, and we’ll be posting updates here regularly.

Have thoughts about the kiosk?  Let us know using the form here.  Thanks!
